- Stimulating classes and sessions so all trainees learn from a veteran trainer (dates are listed below)
- Each trainee receives their own ServSafe book so they can study at their own pace between classes and exam.
- Lively interaction takes place during the classes to enhance learning.
- Administering of the ServSafe Certification or National Registry of Food Safety Professionals Certification examination
- - participants must obtain a grade of 75 or better on the certification exam to pass.
2) Integrated [blended] Study Option includes...
- Customized classroom & internet based training, for all skill levels (dates are listed below)
- On-line registration with TAPseries
- Administering of the ServSafe Certification or National Registry of Food Safety Professionals Certification examination
- participants must obtain a grade of 75 or better on the certification exam to pass.
3) Independent Study Option includes...
- Self-paced internet training, for all skill levels
- On-line registration with TAPseries

Renewal/Re-Certification
The Rhode Island Department of Health Regulations- "Starting July 1, 2018 Food safety manager certification must be renewed every five years". *Upon the current three year renewal - certifications are valid for five years.
Renewal notices will be sent in advance with instructions as to how to renew your certification on-line. If a food safety manager certification is expired for more than six months, the individual must retake the food safety managers certification course and pass the exam before the certification can be renewed." Renewal/ Re-Certification for the State of Rhode Island:
Effective January 2018 - All Renewals/ Re-Certifications must pass a proctored national food safety exam.
- participants must obtain a grade of 75 or better on the exam to pass.
Exams are normally given bi-weekly.

NOTE: The six(6) hour re-certification course is no longer accepted for food safety Renewal/Re-Certification.

The Rhode Island Department of Health recommends taking a refresher to better prepare to take the proctored national food safety exam.
For the refresher the trainee has the choice of A or B from the below to better prepare to take the proctored national food safety exam.
Proctored food safety exam dates are listed below. Following a brief review at the exam session the trainee will take the proctored exam.
A] Trainee will RECEIVE and study the most current ServSafe book, this is an enhanced refresher - see below in this section for topics covered
OR
B] Trainee will STUDY on-line to improve their food safety knowledge, this an enhanced refresher - we will register them for the on-line training see below in this section for topics covered
-Both A and B of the above are enhanced refreshers to allow the trainee to study and refresh their knowledge at their own pace prior to the review session and exam.
All refreshers will be followed by the proctored national food safety exam.

- This 1 hour on-line interactive course provides allergen awareness for the entire staff. Topics covered are what causes allergic reactions, main food allergens, communications from the initial order to serving. Also covered is how to avoid cross contact and what to do when an allergy reaction or attack happens. Upon successful completion you will earn a certificate that is valid for three years. This training is highly recommended for all staff.
